Pagan Hatred

By Rebecca

It seems to me that I have been seeing a resurgence of major Christian hate from Pagans, Witches and Wiccans lately, and honestly it is rather disheartening to see. For the past year or so I have been reading and interacting with Pagans on topics about Paganism and little was mentioned of Christianity, but these past few weeks I have seen some things on Facebook and other places that is just plain annoying.

On a Facebook Witchcraft page was a picture of a Celtic cross, a woman, whether Pagan, Witch or Wiccan I know not, mentioned a few things about the history of the cross, about how the Christians stole it and “tainted” it. A Christian saw this and proceeded to insult her and give his rather mangled version of the truth of the cross. When this was brought to the attention of other users there began a thread filled with Pagans, Witches and Wiccans flaming him as a Christian, flaming the thieving Christians and complaining of this attack by a Christian on a Witch page.

Oh Please. What are xians doing on Witchcraft discussion boards anyway? THIS IS AN HONEST QUESTION. I really want to know because I certainly do not hang out in bible forums or on xian FB pages.

According to what the author said, the xian insulted the Pagan and gave his “mangled version of the truth”.

What makes the xian version of the truth, more true? What makes hatred, Pagan?

If you are looking for something, you’ll find it…truth and/or hatred.

Christians sometimes come to Witch and Pagan sites and pages looking for information, they study other religions just as we do, some of them are actually interested in what we are all about. We have several on a Pagan forum I administrate, and rarely do they give us any problems. Indeed, some are even there to grow spiritually, whilst remaining Christian.

I never said the Christian’s words were more truth than the Pagan’s, I don’t see where you got that idea nor did I state that hatred is a Pagan passtime, it is in truth a product of most humans in general. However, my post was about the resurgence of hatred Pagans are showing towards Christians, or at least what appears to be a resurgence compared to my experiences over the past year or so.

Hello, BekahRebel, and welcome. Always a pleasure to receive feedback from the author of one of our linked posts.

I wouldn’t say that hatred is “a product of most humans in general,” but my perception is that just about every group (whether religious, political, economic, or what-have-you) will have a certain proportion of members who are prone to that sort of thing. YMMV, as we say in North America.
