Gwyn: Ancient God of Glastonbury and key to the Glastonbury Zodiac, by Yuri Leit

This is an intriguing work on a subject dear to my heart – the ancient gods. This book explores the ancient British world around Glastonbury, focusing on Gwyn ap Nudd, who although many may consider him Welsh, has strong connections with Avalon. The author is a talented artist, and his (often portrait style) pictures grace . . . → Read More: Gwyn: Ancient God of Glastonbury and key to the Glastonbury Zodiac, by Yuri Leit

Two of Aylmer’s biggest events, Outaouais en fête and the Auto Show, launched their presentations this year with appeals for volunteers.

He was a pretty puny thing, this Suminia getmanovi. But today’s monkeys would probably worship the branches he walked on.

Some 51 centimetres from the end of his nose to the tip of his tail, he was a timid and furtive creature. But the early mammal precursor was groundbreaking in the most literal way some . . . → Read More: U of T team finds 1st tree-climbing animal

When does Christian missionary work become predatory ? Czech anthropologist Tomas Ryska’s 2008 film Prisoners of a White God concerns Ryska’s troubling findings, from his field work among the Akha mountain people of Southeast Asia. Interview with a Hedgewitch

So today I am going to interview Juniper for a writing class, and for her blog and anybody else who cares. This interview was conducted about a week before midsummer 2009. It was conducted via IM and microphone, but not webcam as Juni is on dial-up.

D: Okay so to get the ball rolling . . . → Read More: Interview with a Hedgewitch

Religion among the Roma

The majority of Czech Roma are of the Roman Catholic faith. It is said of the Roma that their real faith is an interesting symbiosis of the religion of the majority society and their own “superstitions”, which they brought with them from India. This superficial opinion on Romani faith is confirmed by even the oldest . . . → Read More: Religion among the Roma
