An 88-year-old woman who has spent more than three decades monitoring, researching and petitioning for safe practices at uranium mines will be in the running Monday for a Canadian Environmental Award.
Maisie Shiell is one of three finalists in the environmental health category. If she wins at the ceremony in Calgary, she says she will donate her $5,000 prize to the Inter-church Uranium Committee Educational Co-operative, an organization she works with in Saskatoon.
