Striking B.C. health workers told to defy government

The 43,000 striking British Columbia health workers were told by their leading union on Thursday to defy back-to-work legislation passed earlier.

Chris Allnut of the Hospital Employees Union told workers at a rally in front of Vancouver General Hospital to continue the strike until the union decided on a new stance.

He said, to cheers: “I want to be perfectly clear what the union is instructing members to do”¦You are to respect the protest lines until we decide that you should go back to work.”
