Haunted trolley car turns 100

VANCOUVER – The famous old black and white photograph shows a shadowy male figure climbing onto the steps of an electric streetcar being moved into the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant, under construction at the time.

The 1969 picture stumped everyone who saw it-not only was there no one on the steps when the photo was taken, but blurry details of the streetcar are visible through the ghostly apparition. Trolley Car Number 53, which once belonged to the British Columbia Electric Railway Company, just celebrated its 100th birthday, and if you believe the stories, the car is frequented by the ghost of a train conductor who died in a wreck on the site years before the restaurant opened.
