B.C. wines reap golden harvest

By John Bermingham and Ian Austin

B.C. cleaned up at the Canadian Wine Awards Friday, while the hot summer promises another bumper crop of award winners to come.

Jackson-Triggs Winery in Oliver was named Winery of the Year, taking home eight golds, leading the way for 24 B.C. wins.

“We work hard at it,” said Jackson-Triggs co-founder Don Triggs. “We’re just delighted. “I think it’s a tribute to our team.”

And with this year’s grape harvest barely a week old, B.C. winemakers are saying the summer heat wave has sent the grape quality soaring, boding well for future wins.
